Once again the beginning of the school holiday heralds the start of our annual Summer School. The emphasis for the children to have a good time whilst enjoying the love of dance.

From the first day every age group worked relentlessly to remember and produce several dances to perform for parents, grandparents etc. to enjoy at the show on the fourth day.

The seniors were particularly put through their paces by guest teachers as well as Miss Denny and Miss Sarah and taken out of their comfort zone to learn new genres i.e. hip-hop and contemporary. The theme was Cats and Dogs and incorporated some amusing as well as technical ballet and modern numbers.

After the excitement backstage and hair, make-up and costumes completed we were ready to start. It commenced with 4 year old Hope singing a solo and ending with Grade 4, 5 and seniors doing a ballet group with lots of exciting routines in between.

Every age group produced amazing, colourful, enjoyable routines and every child should be proud of themselves. The improvement made by each child is unbelievable. The senior girls produced a fantastic display in the show – very hard to believe they only had three days to learn, execute and and produce six dances to perfection (several of which were not their genre).

As these genres proved so successful we are contemplating including them on our time-table in the near future. The excitement, the costumes and the enjoyment expressed through dance by the children left everyone in the audience wondering how such a professional performance could be achieved in 4 days.

Well Done Everyone.
