More About Our Dance School
We offer ballet, modern dance and tap lessons to girls and boys from the ages of 2 and a half progressing to higher levels as well as point work. We also offer adult classes in both ballet and tap. As teachers at Symphony we both have over 35 years of teaching experience and we’re trained at vocational schools (The Hammond and Laines).
At Symphony we pride ourselves on allowing all of our pupils to develop their own individual personality and musicality within the various genres of dance we offer. We strive to give our pupils all the individual attention they need to grow in confidence, a confidence that benefits them not only as young dancers but through all aspects of their lives.
Ballet is an art form that allows expression as well as development of both physical and mental co-ordination and self discipline. We also feel that ballet is a very strong foundation for all other forms of dance including modern work. Modern dance has a very different style to classical ballet and introduces a number of contemporary elements. We are very proud to say that in the last 5 years 100% of our pupils entered for Advanced 2 Modern, a vocational grade and the highest award in modern dance, have gained distinction with marks ranging from 89 to 95%.
We feel it is important that our pupils have the opportunity to improve their team work and social skills so we also offer a summer school during the summer holidays which ends in a show to friends a family. The interaction between all the different age groups is something all our pupils enjoy, with the show greatly improving confidence and self-esteem. We also select pupils to represent Symphony dance school in a number of dance festivals.
